JUST when we thought cryptocurrency hit its peak in popularity, with Bitcoin hitting $64,000 in November of 2021, but now cruising at $36,000, we know it's just the beginning. Gucci announced (via Vogue Business) the financial future for the fashion house by stepping into the crypto world, Gucci will accept cryptocurrency.
The pilot for this rollout is coming quicker than you think; by the end of May 2022, a minimum of 5 stores across the US will accept various forms of cryptocurrency. The fashion house is working on allowing all of its North American stores to take crypto by the end of the summer. Check out our favorite Gucci crossbody bags here.
Gucci Will Accept Cryptocurrency: Which ones made the cut?
Accepting this form of currency changes how luxury is purchased moving forward in the US; it also doubles as validation for the specific cryptocurrencies that Gucci will accept. A few of the ten accepted cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, and even Dogecoin (the meme currency that was started for laughs).
You will soon be able to purchase products from Gucci using a QR code that will link customers directly to their crypto “wallet.” You can put those digital coins to work by using them at one of the five initial stores set to accept this currency; check out The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas, Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, Wooster Street in New York, Miami Design District and Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.
