1. Which handbag in your collection has the most sentimental value to you and why?

That would be my first high end luxury bag – a beige Miu Miu bag that I purchased in Milan. I was in High School and had saved up money from summer jobs. My dad was really proud (yet a bit confused) of how determined I was to get the bag and contributed with half of the money. I was so nervous and excited all at once. I remembered crying as soon as we left the store with the pink Miu Miu shopping bag in my hand.

2. Is there a handbag you’ve regretted buying? Why and what did you do about it?

Yes. I got the Gucci Marmont shoulder bag in black with gold hardware. I ended up not using it and eventually sold it to a friend. Every bag deserves to be loved. Lesson 1; don’t get something you don’t love straight away. Lesson 2; don’t get something that is outshined by other bags in your collection in terms of colour and size. In this case I ended up always reaching for my classic black Chanel flap.

3. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to build their handbag collection?

I would say try to buy styles and colours that you know you will be able to use a lot. My mistake was buying delicate bags that I only could use on very special occasions. I ended up feeling like I had no bag to wear even if I had a lot of bags. Also, be smart, rather save and buy a bag you really love rather than compromising, especially when it comes to brands. This applies to a certain extent of course. Buying bags is a form of art. By making smart investments in terms of brand, materials and styles you can build a beautiful collection that holds its value and good condition which will bring you a great sense of accomplishment besides “only having many many bags”.

4. What do you think are some of the biggest mistakes people make when choosing a handbag?

Firstly, I would say they don’t buy a bag that goes with their fashion style/closet which makes it look mismatched when they wear it. Secondly, they buy a super trendy bag even when they don’t have a lot of bags, and then they are stuck with only wearing that particular bag because that is what they have. Another mistake some make is that they don’t buy more of what they love – if you’ve found a colour and style you love – there is no need to diversify your collection if you ask me. This way you’ll end up having bags you only love and want to use all the time.

5. What bag do you recommend as a first designer purchase and why?

A bag that is medium sized and able to fit the essentials. Something you can wear during both days and evenings. The Saint Laurent Sac du Jour is a good one. The Louis Vuitton Cappucines is also a classic with an elegant timeless expression.

6. What is your point of view on the recent and consistent price increases across many brands?

I understand the logic behind it but it’s definitely raising the entry level for those in the beginning of their luxury shopping journey. It’s definitely making it more confusing to buy certain things as it’s more difficult to justify what exactly is included in the increased cost compared to before. Over time it will for probably become more normalized in the context, but as of now, I think an extra time before I splurge. It has to make sense in both my head and heart.

7. What are your long-term goals for your brand?

I want to continue to inspire and establish my position on the fashion scene as a chic fashionista. I want to work more closely with the brands I love. My ultimate long-term goal is to create designs of my own whether it be jewelry or clothing. I love to create looks that are just as chic today, as yesterday and 10 years in the future. I’m super excited and grateful for the amazing community and support I have around me.
